Last weekend I went to the David Hockney exhibition at the Royal Academy - it was fantastic. I’m not normally a huge fan of landscapes, and have always been more compelled to draw urban landscapes, or cityscapes. But I’m interested in series’ and studies, and the vast amount of work dedicated to this specific landscape really drew me in. As Hockney suggests on the Culture Show, everything becomes interesting if you really look at it…http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/b01c7wmr/.
And as my Dad questioned - How does he manage to keep so much light in his paintings? Or put so much light into them?
I’d thoroughly recommend going if you can get a ticket!
